I’m always looking for new and fun ways to display the Christmas cards we get from friends and family each year. There is nothing happier than opening cards and seeing how much kids have grown, where friends are off to, and what kinds of adventures they’ve had throughout the year- they deserve to have a beautiful display! This year I made these adorable Cork Card Displays to dress up a kitchen wall and let us share our favorite cards in style! And as the Cricut Explore™ Design Star group 16 decided we’d make wall decor for the holidays- this was the perfect fit!
These displays took less than 15 minutes to make, total. Cricut makes it SO easy! I cut thin corkboard and mounted it on thin posterboard to give it a stiff backing to hang on- and hung them from some fabulous glitter elastic (you could use glitter ribbon- but I swoon over the glitter foldover elastic and how well it pops!). I even dressed the ornaments up with some snowflake designs from glitter vinyl.
First, I loaded up my Cricut Design Space™ and found a cute ornament M3F56C from Joys of the Season. I added the corkboard to an adhesive mat, and cut. I used the posterboard setting (under custom) to cut the cork.
I then redid the same cut on thin posterboard. Remove posterboard shape and cork board shape from mat.
Remove adhesive backing from the corkboard and adhere to the posterboard.
Next, it’s time to embellish!
I added a glitter vinyl snowflake (M38873 on When it’s cold outside)- simply load into Cricut Design Space™ , add vinyl to mat, and select vinyl as the cut setting. Cut, and adhere to cork!
Wasn’t that easy? I have an awesome surprise- you can enter to win a Cricut Explore- use the rafflecopter below! Then you can cut cork, metal, posterboard, tissue paper, fabric and so many other materials with this awesome machine too!
