When I was asked to come up with a fun way to learn about all things creepy crawly for my kids using an awesome new site, The Orkin Ecologist, I knew I wanted to work on a fun matching game for my son. He loves match games, and loves to practise the names of things he’s matching as he goes along. Since he’s loving bugs right now, this was a total no-brainer!
We headed to The Orkin Ecologist site to find out what kinds of creepy crawly bugs we wanted to learn about, and then made some quick pictures in photoshop on a chalkboard print. While they aren’t insects, little man was dying to include mice- and since they are pretty creepy to me, I was happy to oblige.
The cards I made are pretty basic since my son is 3, but you could add a little note to them with fun facts about the insects if you’d like! Or use the game as a way to introduce fun new facts to your kids while you learn about insects.
We had so much fun playing match and learning the names of bugs.
