I'm going to start doing something new here on Sweet C's- and sharing some of my favorite tips, tricks, products, and recipes each month. These are the things making my life easier, more organized, and more fun- and I want to share them with you!
Here is my it-list for February 2016- things I can't live without, things that make me smile, and things that I use daily! I do get a small percentage of the sales from the items linked below, but I completely stand behind everything I am sharing. Your opinion and repeat visits are worth way more to me than the small amount of money I make each month off affiliate links.
If you're like me, it is SUPER hard to get up in the morning. Setting routines and sticking to the helps my body get ready for the day and helps me get organized and in the right headspace for productivity. I find when I skip my daily routines, I tend to drift and waste a TON of time.
Setting a routine has been essential, and has even felt really luxurious since I try to make the steps about pampering myself and making myself look or feel good to start the day. Taking a few moments at the beginning and end of the day helps me not spend a ton of time stressing about stuff too.
Spoiler alert: I started a night time routine too that helps even more!
Bose Sound Link, Amazon - this makes your iPhone sound like a concert hall. And it's super portable. I pop it in the bathroom and rock out while I get ready, or prop it in my office (above) for some great tunes while I work. I've found awesome music helps get me into the right frame of mind. (I'm currently obsessed with Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats- upbeat vintage blues-y vibe and a Denver based group makes me happy)
Rodan + Fields Redefine Regimen
- I start the day with the daily purifying mask before I hop in the shower, and then follow up with the toner and AM moisturizer.
- Since using these, I feel like my skin is SO much more radiant- after having a radical hysterectomy last year, I have felt like my skin is lacking that lovely, bright glow a 33 year old should have. R+F has brought my skin back to life! (more on this in a moment)
While Rodan and Fields has a reputation for being a bit expensive, I will say it is truly worth every penny I spent!
I've tried SO many skincare lines that simply didn't work, left my skin dry or oily, or didn't solve breakouts- and R+F has been a godsend to me- especially since my skin is particularly troubled due to hormonal issues.
If you want to save on your order, be sure to sign up as a Preferred Customer! (and be sure to head to my R+F Page if you'd like to buy through me!!! sweetcs.myrandf.com)
Yes, this does involve auto-shipments, but you can always pause them or push them back if you're not ready for your next shipment yet.
I was turned on to R+F by my cousin who became a consultant, and I was pretty shocked to learn she makes a couple thousand off her sales every month- especially because she literally rarely talks about it and is the least pushy person ever.
I am in no way a fan of MLM companies- but I can't argue with how well my skin has responded to Rodan and Fields!
Hot tip: Signing up as a preferred customer gets you free shipping and up to 10% off, which really adds up over time!
Ok, this isn't really an "essential"- but it makes me smile every time I use it, and it makes my morning coffee portable without giving it a funky taste. I HATE how plastic coffee cups make my delicious (and utterly pretentious) expensive beans taste. After all the hassle of a pour over or chemex, it is a travesty to ruin coffee with a weird taste! This tumbler is ceramic and has a BPA free lid that imparts no flavor.
My days are usually filled with hectic races to get as much work done as I can before shuttling back and forth to pick my kids up from school- so I try to pack as much as possible in to small chunks of time. For someone with ADD, this is not an easy undertaking and I can get derailed easily-- so sticking to priorities and making organization fun has really helped me. I'm sharing my favorite photography, cooking, and organization essentials below- since my days center around those!
I am always asked what lens I use for food photography. I have a ton of friends upgrading to the 100mm Macro- but this lens is my baby. It is expensive-- but it is great for food, travel, portraits- basically it stays on my camera at all times. The color and sharpness have me sold!
CB2 Go Cart Rolling Console Table and TPS Mint 3 Drawer File Cabinets - I love how cute and stylish these are- and that I can move them around my office. They give me a ton of storage space, and double as easy to manage photography surfaces!
Right now, this is my photo and filing storage area (see the clamps on the chalkboard? they are holding up some vinyl backdrops.... hahaha!) but I am going to let the kids use it as a desk while I'm working, too.

Nights are usually chaotic for us. We eat when my husband gets home, then we plead and cajole with our kids to take a bath/clean up/get into bed. Structure and routine helps us so much, but we have a tough time sticking to it.
Once my kids are in bed, I usually work for a while, or catch up on shows or just hang out with my husband.
Here's what I'm currently obsessed with:
The Tsar of Love and Techno, Anthony Marra, Amazon - I love this book. Anthony Marra's writing style is incredibly illustrative and beautiful- and as someone who is somewhat obsessed with Soviet and Post-Soviet Russia and Eastern Europe, I felt a special connection to these moving tales.
Rodan and Fields Unblemish/Redefine Routine
I end my evening with a little mini-pampering session that has dramatically reduced the hormonal breakouts I thought I was cursed to endure after my hysterectomy. If you have hormonal acne, this stuff is the best! I literally tried everything and nothing helped... but within a few days, Unblemish was magical.
I still get hormonal breakouts, but they are much smaller and fade quickly, instead of taking over my face. My pores also look so much better!
At night, I use the R+F Redefine eye cloths, followed by the unblemish sulfur wash, unblemish clarifying toner, unblemish dual intensive acne treatment ( if you buy ONE Rodan and Fields Product to clear acne, BUY THIS!!!!), and ending the night with the redefine overnight restorative cream.
Once again- if you're interested in trying Rodan and Fields, be sure to sign up as a preferred customer to get free shipping and 10% off! It is totally worth it!
And to sign up to become a Rodan and Fields Consultant (one of the only companies I have seen my friends truly make great money at home, without badgering friends to death with), shoot me an email at sweetcsdesigns @ gmail . com , ask me any questions you have, and I can help you get set up!
What are your essentials this february???
