Gluten free party food can be… well… sort of lackluster. But let me tell you, it doesn’t need to be! Today I am sharing my favorite party snack with you… gluten free Hershey Kiss & Nutella Muddy Buddies.
This isn’t just some lame GF party food… it is sweet, rich and SO addictive. Plus, unlike other muddy buddy recipes, I omit butter so it can be made dairy free (just swap Nutella for a dairy free chocolate hazelnut butter).
One note: if you are gluten free, check the back of your powdered sugar bag. If it says cornstarch, you are fine. If it says modified cornstarch or starch from anything else- get another brand. Also, some peanut butters might contain trace amounts of gluten from preservatives or cross contamination. If you are celiac, please be sure to get a peanut butter that is certified gluten free.
As of the publishing date of this recipe, Hershey’s has classified their Kisses as gluten free. Please check ALL ingredients if you are allergic- as this recipe has numerous variations for those with dietary needs. Please message me if you are stumped for a substitution and I can do my best to help you out!
- 1 cup hershey kisses
- 1/2 cup nutella
- 1/2 cup smooth GF peanut butter
- 4 cups corn chex
- 1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- Using a double boiler, melt hershey kisses until almost completely melted.
- Add in peanut butter and nutella, combine until smooth.
- Remove from heat.
- Stir in corn chex.
- Carefully toss to evenly coat chex in chocolate mixture.
- Toss in ziploc bag.
- Add in powdered sugar, shake bag to evenly coat.
- Place bag in refrigerator until set- I actually think they taste best slightly cool.
- Serve and enjoy!
If you are avoiding dairy, this recipe is perfect. Just swap nutella with Justin's Chocolate Hazelnut Butter or another non-dairy alternative. If allergic to peanuts, swap sunflower, almond, or another salty butter.
You could also add M&Ms, Reese’s peanut butter chips, or any other gluten free candy to make the mix even more festive!
