One of my favorite parts of Christmas is all of the gorgeous, sparkly, shiny lights. I love how alive and magical everything feels with the soft glow of lights everywhere- and luminarias are one of my favorite winter traditions. These Quick and Easy Snowflake Luminarias are a gorgeous and fun way to decorate for winter! I’m so glad the Cricut Design Space Star Group 16 chose Winter Comfort for our theme this month, because I couldn’t think of a more comforting Christmas decoration!
Using my Cricut Explore™ made these a breeze. I just had to make two cuts using designs I found in the Cricut Design Space software.
For this craft, you’ll need:
Gluestick, hot glue, or a glue runner
1 sheet printed vellum paper
Cricut Design Space™
Cricut Scoring Pen
Snowflake M38991 from the Winter Lace Cartridge found in Cricut Design Space™
Bag # M396E from Plantin SchoolBook found in Cricut Design Space™
1 strand of battery operated twinkle lights or battery operated candle.
To start off, I added the Cricut Scoring Pen to my Cricut Explore™.
Next, connect your computer to your Cricut Design Space™, and lay the metallic paper to a 12×12 or 12×24 mat.
Add the Bag image to the cricut design space software, and arrange it so it is as large as possible in the 12″x12″ mat- since we’re using 12×12 paper, we want to stick in that size.
Add the snowflake image on top of the bag in Cricut Design Space™, and hide the foreground image (we just want the background).
Weld the images together so that the snowflake cuts from inside the bag. To properly weld, you might need to review the design space video.
The bag has lines that it will automatically score before cutting- so you know exactly where to fold. It makes folding SO much easier!
Select cardstock and cut/score.
Carefully removing using cricut spatula.
Fold sides that are scored.
Trim a sheet of printed vellum to size, and glue to the inside of the bag.
Glue bag together.
Add lights or battery operated candle to bag (please dont use a real candle- this is very flammable).
