You've probably noticed all the baby posts lately- and there is good reason for all of them... our little baby B is here!
Our sweet little angel was born April 14, two days before our scheduled induction (I had pre-eclampsia) and two weeks before her due date. It was a crazy day- I started having contractions at 4:30 am, but they were really irregular, so I figured it was just more braxton hicks. My husband took little man to church, and about halfway through, I asked him to have his parents keep little man after church. By the time hubs got home, my contractions were 7 minutes apart, and my doctor urged us to come in ASAP (I am an hour from my hospital- I am crazy but refused to give up my fabulous doctor so we drove that far!).
As we drove through Denver, I remember passing Invesco and panicking as I realized my contractions were now 3 minutes apart. We were still 20 minutes from Littleton Hospital- was I going to make it? Should we pull off and head to Denver Health, right nearby? I decided I had to stick with MY doctor... so we continued on. As we pulled into the Littleon ER parking lot, my contractions were 2 minutes apart. I was starting to feel the need to push.
It took about 10 minutes for someone to come out and get me with a wheelchair. I was screaming the whole time.
As they wheeled me upstairs, I kept on screaming as my contractions were now right on top of each other. I just remember yelling to everyone I saw that the anesthesiologist had better be on his way. They kept telling me they had to check how far I was, and thankfully, I had JUST enough time to get the epi. It was heaven.
After the commute chaos and the epi, the rest of baby B's appearance was smooth sailing. With little man, I needed two epi's (the first only worked on one side), and it wore off before labor began. With this one, I was nice and comfy and only pushed about 12 times (4 sets of pushes), and she was here! It was the easiest, most wonderful labor after a bit of a harsh pregnancy. She was born around 5pm- just about 12 hours of labor.
We got out of the hospital as quickly as they would discharge us so we could get home and into the swing of our new family life. The first two days were a bit rough, as little man was teething and a bit of a nightmare. After his teething fever dropped, he was back to his sweet self and it has been pretty smooth sailing! B is a great sleeper, she eats well, and I've had plenty time to spend with my little guy and make him feel special even though we have this new little addition.
Here's a little peek at what our world has centered around lately:
I'm already embarassing her....
little man has taken quite a shine to his little sister, and is her biggest protector...
and despite my fears, little man has adjusted pretty quickly to life as a big brother.
He's smiling, we're swooning, and everyone here is in baby heaven!
Hope you enjoy some of the fun baby-inspired posts while I continue to get baby B's room together!
