Cut the fresh herbs and place them in the bowl.
Squeeze the garlic into the bowl, along with the butter, salt, and pepper. Mash the garlic and mix until combined. Taste to see if more salt is needed. Add 1/3 of a teaspoon of salt at a time to reach your desired taste.
