Place water in instant pot.
Add trivet or pan insert into instant pot.
Place chicken wings in instant pot, making sure they don't touch water.
Place lid on Instant pot (for crunchy chicken wings, use crisping lid), and seal.
Cook on high pressure according to manufacturer's instructions; set timer for 10 minutes.
Allow 10 to 15 minutes for pressure to build.
In a small pot, combine wing sauce and butter and heat on medium until butter is melted, and whisk until well combined.
Release pressure carefully using the quick-release method according to manufacturer's instructions, about 5 minutes.
Unlock and remove the lid carefully. Transfer wings to a large bowl and pour sauce over wings.
Toss to coat.
Optional: for extra crispy wings, set an oven rack about 6 inches from the heat source and preheat the oven's broiler to high.
Broil wings for 5 minutes.
Flip wings and cook until crispy, about 5 minutes more.
Toss with any remaining sauce if desired.
