- Place water in instant pot. 
- Add trivet or pan insert into instant pot. 
- Place chicken wings in instant pot, making sure they don't touch water. 
- Place lid on Instant pot (for crunchy chicken wings, use crisping lid), and seal. 
- Cook on high pressure according to manufacturer's instructions; set timer for 10 minutes. 
- Allow 10 to 15 minutes for pressure to build. 
- In a small pot, combine wing sauce and butter and heat on medium until butter is melted, and whisk until well combined. 
- Release pressure carefully using the quick-release method according to manufacturer's instructions, about 5 minutes. 
- Unlock and remove the lid carefully. Transfer wings to a large bowl and pour sauce over wings. 
- Toss to coat. 
- Optional: for extra crispy wings, set an oven rack about 6 inches from the heat source and preheat the oven's broiler to high. 
- Broil wings for 5 minutes. 
- Flip wings and cook until crispy, about 5 minutes more. 
- Toss with any remaining sauce if desired.
