To Make These Instant Pot Chicken Wings, You’ll Need:

This chicken wing recipe is so easy because it really doesn’t need much for delicious, knockout flavor!

How To Cook Chicken Wings in an Instant Pot

-Place water in instant pot.

-Add trivet or pan insert into instant pot.

-Place chicken wings in instant pot, making sure they don’t touch water. Place lid on Instant pot (for crunchy chicken wings, use crisping lid), and seal.

-Cook on high pressure according to manufacturer’s instructions; set timer for 10 minutes.

-Allow 10 to 15 minutes for pressure to build.

-In a small pot, combine wing sauce and butter and heat on medium until butter is melted, and whisk until well combined.

-Release pressure carefully using the quick-release method according to manufacturer’s instructions, about 5 minutes.

-Unlock and remove the lid carefully.

-Transfer wings to a large bowl and pour sauce over wings.

-Toss to coat.

-Optional: for extra crispy wings, set an oven rack about 6 inches from the heat source and preheat the oven’s broiler to high.

-Broil wings for 5 minutes.

-Flip wings and cook until crispy, about 5 minutes more.Toss with any remaining sauce if desired.

How To Get Crispy Chicken Wings

Crispy and crunchy wings – with no extra breading – take a bit of technique to get to perfectly mimic a deep fried wings texture, especially in an instant pot.

If you’re looking for crunchy keto chicken wings – this is one technique you will want to bookmark to use again and again!

-Pat wings dry completely before cooking in the instant pot.

We’re using the fat in the chicken wings to crisp them without frying – which is easier if wings are completely dry going into the oven.

-Crisp wings under broiler on wire rack for extra crispy wings.

Cooking chicken wings on a wire rack encourages better air circulation all around the chicken wings, which will help them cook faster and crisp more.

Lightly grease wire racks with olive oil, coconut oil, or another fat you prefer to make it less likely to stick to the chicken wings.

Toss the wings in sauce after they are cooked.

This will help to reduce any chance for your wings to get soggy from the sauce.

Make sure to use from the oven hot wings – the sauce sticks better to hotter wings what have been patted dry with paper towels to remove excess oil and fat and then tossed with sauce.
