How to Bake Thin Cut Chicken Breasts

This recipe is designed to be super simple, so even beginners can make perfect juicy chicken breasts.

Ingredients to Bake the Best Thin Cut Chicken Breasts:

To make this recipe, we will need the following ingredients:

  • 4 thin-cut boneless, skinless chicken breasts – Lean protein; quick-cooking and absorbs flavor well.
  • 2 tbsp olive oil – Adds moisture, helps seasoning stick, and enhances flavor.
  • 1 tsp garlic powder – Adds savory depth and umami.
  • 1 tsp onion powder – Contributes mild sweetness and rich background flavor.
  • 1 tsp paprika (optional) – Adds color and a touch of smokiness or sweetness.
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano or Italian seasoning – Brings herbal aroma and savory complexity.
  • Salt and pepper to taste – Essential for enhancing and balancing overall flavor.

Thin Cut Chicken Breasts in the Oven Process:

Raw chicken breasts, lemon halves, and olive oil rest in a wooden bowl, accompanied by a sprinkle of salt and peppercorns. Three white spoons hold an array of spices on the marble surface, ready to transform these ingredients into a delectable thin baked chicken masterpiece.

Prep

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with oil.

Thin baked chicken breasts rest on a sleek black cutting board, ready to be seasoned and savored.

Pound Chicken Thin

Pat the chicken dry with paper towels. This helps it crisp up and bake evenly. Pound chicken out to get even thinner.

Thin chicken breasts are marinated with spices and oil in a white baking dish, ready to transform into one of your go-to chicken recipes, perfectly set on a marble surface.

Marinate

In a small bowl, mix the garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper. Rub olive oil on both sides of each chicken breast, then sprinkle the seasoning mix evenly over both sides.

Four seasoned and thin baked chicken breasts rest perfectly in a white baking dish.

Bake

Place the seasoned chicken breasts on the baking sheet in a single layer. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). Thin chicken cooks fast, so keep an eye on it!

Tips for Perfect Juicy Baked Chicken

Pound evenly: If your chicken breasts aren’t an even thickness, lightly pound them with a meat mallet or rolling pin to ensure they cook uniformly.

Pat dry: Always pat the chicken dry with paper towels before seasoning. This helps the oil and spices adhere better and promotes even browning.

Use enough oil: A light coating of olive oil keeps the chicken moist and helps seasoning stick to the surface.

Don’t skip the salt: Salt not only enhances flavor but also helps retain moisture during baking.

High heat, short time: Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 12–15 minutes. Thin chicken breasts cook quickly, so avoid overbaking.

Use a meat thermometer: Bake until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) for juicy, safely cooked chicken.

Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes after removing it from the oven. This allows the juices to redistribute, preventing dryness when sliced.

Add a squeeze of lemon juice before serving for brightness and a fresh finish.

Garnish with Parmesan, chopped parsley, or fresh basil for extra flavor and presentation.

Consider a quick marinade with olive oil, lemon juice or vinegar, and herbs for added flavor depth, even if only for 15–30 minutes.
