Georgetown Colorado- love this town at Christmas!

After Christmas this year, my parents took the kids up to their condo in Beaver Creek, leaving my husband and I for a little time to clean up our house and all of the Christmas chaos we left all over- as well as relax a bit for me. Having major surgery ahead of the holidays has been very tough for me! On our way up to meet the kid and my parents in the mountains, Luke and I took a very leisurely drive up the hills and did something we always talk about- but never get around to- we stopped for a little diversion in Georgetown- one of Colorado’s cutest old towns that sprung up around a robust mining community, but has remained a thriving town due to it’s proximity to I70- unlike other mining towns that dot the sprawling mountainsides of the western United States.

Usually, when heading up to the mountains, we’re battling traffic, trying to keep the kids napping, or just hurrying to make good time. One thing I want to take more advantage of in 2015 is this beautiful state we live in. Colorado has so many fun, unique and beautiful places- and it is incredibly silly we don’t spend more time exploring our little slice of heaven.

Here’s a few quick snaps I took of Georgetown’s main street, just after Christmas. The antique shops were humming, the coffee shops buzzing along, and we were a little sad we didn’t have more time planned to pop into them all. Maybe when we come up this way again in February for the World Cup Championships!

If you find your way on I70 through Colorado’s central Rockies- pull off in Georgetown. Especially around Christmas!!

Beautiful pictures ! I want to do the same with the state we live in. We’ve been here since 2006 and there is so much more of Texas to see and do.
