How to Make Strawberry Basil Moscow Mules

The ginger beer you pick is a very important part of Moscow Mules since they are so simple with very few ingredients.

Moscow Mules, to be well balanced, need a spicy, not-too-sweet ginger beer to balance the vodka and lime.

When the Moscow Mule was originally created in a Los Angeles bar, it was made with Smirnoff and Cock ‘n Bull Ginger Beer – as a promotion for vodka in America.

The drink was created using Cock ‘n Bull, and in my own opinion, it is the best ginger beer to use for Moscow Mules – spicy, not too sweet, and well balanced so it doesn’t overpower your drink.

That being said, there are a number of delicious, well-crafted ginger beers that are just as delicious as the original.

Tips and Tricks for Perfect Strawberry Basil Moscow Mules & FAQs

Moscow mules are best known for being served in a copper mug.

Copper takes on the temperature of whatever you’re drinking – making it an excellent cup to sip something incredibly cold from.

Copper cups help make the Moscow mule ice cold – which brings out the best flavor!

I personally prefer copper mugs lined with another metal on the inside to prevent any leaching of copper from the acidic properties of a Moscow mule (- though this goes down so quickly it is probably not nearly enough time to leach any copper.)
