Cabo San Lucas from the Ruby Princess - Where to Eat

Cabo San Lucas offers lots for guests coming in from cruise ships - with a laid-back yet upscale feel, pristine beaches, El Arco and other gorgeous rock formations, as well as food that is to die for - there is no shortage of fun in Cabo!

Luckily my friend Sandra from A Dash of Sanity was game for an adventure - we found some of the most delicious picks around Cabo! I love that girl so much - she's the perfect person to explore with (especially if tacos are involved!!!!)

    Tacos at Tacos Gardenias

Tacos Gardenias is a short walk from the mall just off the harbor (take a water taxi from where you're dropped off from the ships tender to make the walk much shorter) - but we took a taxi because I was having a bit of a flare-up and my feet were killing me.

img_8977Tacos Gardenias is easy to miss- it is very unassuming and in a bit of a quieter area off the beaten path. It sort of looks like a garage, and our taxi driver actually missed it on the first pass.

The staff is incredibly nice and helpful, and the service is crazy quick - and the tacos.

    THE TACOS!!!

I could move in to that restaurant tomorrow and die a happy woman. The best tacos ever! The meat was smoky and rich, full of flavor - and the vegetarian cactus tacos were tart and fresh, with a hint of smoky charring.

Must try: cactus, chicharrones, carnitas, barbacoa. Shishito Pepper appetizer is a MUST!

    Coffee at Cabo Coffee

Mexico has no shortage of delicious coffee- mostly due to the fact that some of the best single-origin coffee comes from Mexican farms.

When we got off ship in Cabo, coffee was my first priority.

I asked a local who was sitting in front of her shop where to get the best cup of coffee, and she told me Starbucks was in the next building over. "No, no.... I mean like the best REAL coffee" (no offense Starbucks lovers, I do love them too, but I do think their beans are too bitter when not ordering in a sweetened drink.) She perked up and said "Oh! Yes, well, you're about to have the BEST cup ever then!!" and quickly spouted off directions to Cabo Coffee.

And man--- she was not wrong.

I got a black-eye (I was really, really dragging that day and needed the extra caffeine.) While a lot of black-eyes are super bitter (it's basically just two shots of espresso with hot water), Cabo Coffee Company's espresso was rich and smooth - I didnt need any sweetener or milk. It was perfection! (I am SOOO kicking myself for not buying their beans and bringing some home!!)

Shrimp Pizza, Daquiris, and Gelato at Senor Sweets

Senor Sweets is right in the mall off the harbor - but don't let the very commercial location fool you, because their food is amazing!

My friend Sandra and I headed there for gelato originally, but we met up with Julie from Little Kitchen and decided to sample the shrimp pizza she ordered (trust me on this one - I know cheese and seafood aren't supposed to work, but this was HEAVENLY! Rich and full of flavor, with a grilled and blackened shrimp that wasn't overly sweet.)

We sat and ordered daiquiris and ate the pizza- and I suddenly had no more room for gelato. I did sample Sandra's though- it was sublime!

We were full and ready for our long stroll back to the boat's tenders after a short break in Cabo - but we packed in so much delicious food into our own gourmet excursion!
