At Sweet C’s, I add lots of tips in all of my recipes – because I am a home cook without any formal training, and I find I am more confident making dishes when I understand why it works, and what each ingredient means to the flavor of a recipe – my goal is for even the most beginner home cook to feel empowered in the kitchen.

I want each reader to walk away with a solid knowledge of each recipe, with all of the tips I’ve gathered from extensive testing of each recipe. I also answer questions my friends and family have asked about my recipes, to help everyone better understand the processes we use – and why!

Wonderful Avon Colorado

We recently headed back up to my parents condo in Avon Colorado (think Beaver Creek Resort)- and while I didn’t get to go and do as much as we normally do this time because I am still recovering from surgery, I did get to see New Years Eve fireworks over the Beaver Creek Village with the kids (they do a firework show at 6:45- awesome for little kids though it was brutally cold this year). Our kids loved Beaver Creek Ski School

I also got to catch the kiddos sledding at Nottingham Park (though I couldn’t do the lifting or riding with them, I got to catch some gorgeous snaps!). Nottingham Park is just north of Beaver Creek Resort. While there is a truly awesome sledding hill on the south side of the lake (by the police department and library), we hit up the north side of the park for a gentile slope as my kids haven’t been sledding before. They loved it and we had a blast!

Here’s a few shots from our time in the mountains- can’t wait to head up again this season when I am feeling a bit better!

Last time we visited Avon we did it in alongside a trip to Breckenridge where we stayed at the amazing Ranahan by Welk Resort that is a must see! If you want to know where to eat in Breckenridge, you have to read my foodie tour guide! We then went with my parents on a trip to Vail!

If you enjoy Avon try checking out Georgetown Colorado for a similar feel!
