At Sweet C’s, I add lots of tips in all of my recipes – because I am a home cook without any formal training, and I find I am more confident making dishes when I understand why it works, and what each ingredient means to the flavor of a recipe. Low Carb Parmesan Crisps

First assemble the following ingredients:

  • Shredded Parmesan Cheese (3 cups) – Shredded Parmesan cheese adds a nutty, salty, and savory richness that crisps into a golden, flavorful crunch when baked or fried.
  • Onion and Garlic Powder (pinch, optional) – You can add a pinch of your favorite seasonings to add a little more flavor.
A pile of finely shredded yellow and white cheese is spread out on a flat grey surface, perfect for making an easy baked Parmesan crisps recipe.

Lay out and Bake

Add parchment paper or silpat to baking sheet. Make small, flat piles of cheese in round shapes on parchment paper or Silpat. Take care to give them a little room to spread without touching. Bake at 350 degrees. Bake 8-12 minutes, until melting and very slightly browned. Let cool and enjoy!

Tips and Tricks for Baked Keto Parmesan Crisps

Use fresh Parmesan: Freshly shredded Parmesan melts and crisps better than pre-shredded cheese, which can contain anti-caking agents.

Shred finely and evenly: The thinner and more uniform the shreds, the more evenly the crisps will bake.

Line your pan: Use parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to prevent sticking and make cleanup easy.

Space them out: Leave enough room between cheese mounds so they don’t melt into each other.

Shape before baking: Use a cookie cutter or ring mold to create neat, uniform circles of cheese.

Keep them thin: Spread the cheese into a thin, even layer so it crisps instead of turning chewy.

Add seasonings sparingly: Parmesan is already salty, so just a pinch of pepper, garlic powder, or herbs is plenty.

Watch closely: Parmesan can go from golden and crisp to burnt quickly—check after 5–6 minutes.

Cool completely: Let crisps rest on the pan for a few minutes before transferring so they firm up properly.

FAQs

What type of Parmesan cheese works best?

Freshly grated or shredded Parmesan from a wedge works best since it melts evenly and doesn’t contain anti-caking agents that can affect texture.

Can I use pre-shredded Parmesan from a bag?

Yes, but it may not melt as smoothly and can sometimes leave a grainy texture due to added starch or cellulose.

Can I make Parmesan crisps in the microwave?

Yes! Place small mounds of cheese on parchment paper and microwave in 30–60 second bursts until golden.

How long do Parmesan crisps stay fresh?

They keep for up to 3 days in an airtight container at room temperature, but they’re best enjoyed the same day.

Can I add seasonings or mix-ins?

Absolutely! Try black pepper, garlic powder, paprika, sesame seeds, or everything bagel seasoning for variety.

What can I serve Parmesan crisps with?

They’re delicious on their own, but also make great salad toppers, soup garnishes, or low-carb cracker substitutes.
