How To Make Veggie Pizza
This pizza is so simple to make – we’re going through three main steps.
- Bake – bake the pizza dough.
- Mix – mix the cream cheese topping.
- Decorate – add vegetables to decorate in the shape of a tree!
- Preheat the oven to 375ยฐF. Overlap the crescent dough sheets to fit a 10×15 baking sheet, pinch the seams to seal. Fold under any excess dough around the edges. Bake for 13-15 minutes until golden brown. Let cool completely.
- In a medium-sized bowl stir together the cream cheese and sour cream until combined. Spread this mixture over the crescent dough leaving a crust edge.
- Using 2 star vegetable cutters, one larger to make a large star for the top of the tree and a smaller one to make smaller stars for the tree. Take off the top and bottom of the peppers and take out the core. Cut out your star shapes and set aside.
- Using a butter knife, sketch out a template in the cream cheese of the shape of the Christmas tree you want or whatever shape you are going for.
- Fill in the tree shape first with the broccoli. The white cream cheese around the tree, fill those areas in with the cauliflower florets.
- Next, sprinkle the carrots all over the tree. Add the top star and smaller stars over the tree randomly. Add the halved tomatoes to the tree. Sprinkle everything with the red onion and scallions.
- Slice and serve!
Tips To Perfect Crescent Dough Veggie Pizza
Pat Dry Vegetables: If using watery vegetables like tomatoes or zucchini, pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture that could make the crust soggy.
Chop Veggies Thinly: Cut vegetables into thin slices or small pieces to ensure they cook quickly and evenly without overwhelming the delicate crust.
Add Cheese: Sprinkle a layer of shredded cheese such as mozzarella or cheddar over the veggies for a gooey, melty texture and rich taste.
Drizzle a Finish: Before serving, drizzle the top with olive oil or a glaze of balsamic reduction for a glossy, flavorful finish.
Garnish: After baking, add fresh herbs like basil or parsley for a fresh, vibrant touch.
Experiment with Sauces: Instead of cream cheese, try different bases like pesto, hummus, or ranch dressing for varied flavor profiles.
Use Precooked or Leftover Veggies: Speed up the prep time by using precooked or leftover vegetables from previous meals.
Cool the Dough: Allow the pre-baked dough to cool slightly before adding the cream cheese layer; this helps the cream cheese spread evenly without melting.
