Are Chickpeas Garbanzo Beans
Chickpeas and garbanzo beans are the exact same thing.
The name garbanzo bean is a Spanish name for chickpeas.
Some brands will label them chickpeas, some will label as garbanzo beans – they are both the same tasty bean!
How To Air Fry Chickpeas
Air frying chickpeas is super simple – but there are a couple tips and tricks to make your garbanzo beans come out perfect, every time.
- Drain chickpeas in a colander, and pat dry with a paper towel. To get crispy, crunchy chickpeas, this step is essential so oil can stick to the outside of chickpeas.
- Toss chickpeas in oil and spices in a bowl or plastic bag to evenly coat for the best flavor and even cooking.
How Long To Air Fry Chickpeas
The time you cook chickpeas is somewhat subjective – some people like crunchier chickpeas, some like them a bit softer.
Aim for around 10-15 minutes of cook time, shaking the air fryer basket as you cook, but check chickpeas as you go until you get a crispiness you like!
We recommend air frying at the highest temperature possible.
What Seasonings To Add To Air Fried Chickpeas
For this recipe we’re using lemon pepper seasoning, which you can grab in most grocery stores spice aisles.
We love adding all kinds of seasonings and flavors to our air fried chickpeas – you can add whatever flavors you like.
Some of our favorites are below:
- Taco seasoning
- Adobo seasoning
- Italian seasoning
- Curry powder
- Garlic powder
- Parmesan cheese
- BBQ rub
Cooked chickpeas can be stored in an airtight container, kept in a cool, dry place, for up to seven days.
Air frying chickpeas helps crisp and develop more crunch than baking, in less time.
Set your air fryer at the highest heat to really get the best crunch!
