How to Make Apple Mojitos
First assemble the following ingredients:
- Caramel vodka (2 oz Smirnoff) – Caramel vodka adds a smooth, buttery sweetness with hints of toffee that pair perfectly with apple flavors.
- Apple cider simple syrup (1 oz) – Apple cider simple syrup brings cozy autumn sweetness layered with apple and cinnamon warmth.
- Sparkling water (3 oz) – Sparkling water lightens the drink with refreshing bubbles that balance the richness of caramel and cider.
- Mint leaves (4-5) – Sparkling water lightens the drink with refreshing bubbles that balance the richness of caramel and cider.
Apple Cider Simple Syrup
- Apple (2 slices) – Fresh apple slices infuse the syrup with a naturally crisp, fruity sweetness.
- Sugar (3 tbsp) – Sugar dissolves to create the syrup’s smooth sweetness and balance the spice.
- Cinnamon stick (1) – Cinnamon adds warm, cozy spice that enhances the fall flavors of the cider.
- Apple cider (1 oz) – Apple cider provides a tangy, rich base that ties all the flavors together.
Make Simple Syrup
Add all of the simple syrup ingredients to a saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and let simmer for 2 minutes. Remove from heat. Use what you need but store leftovers in a jar with an airtight lid in refrigerator for up to one week.

Add the Mint and muddle it in the glass. Add 1/4 cup of the simple syrup to the cup on top of the mint.
Finish and Enjoy
Add ice, vodka, and simple syrup, and enjoy!
Tips and Tricks for Apple Cider Mojitos
Substitute Liquor – Vodka is often used in mojitos in America though, since white rum and vodka can work in the same cocktail recipes and give slightly different flavors. We’re using Smirnoff caramel vodka for this recipe, but you can use another vodka or white rum without caramel flavor if desired.
Sweeten As Needed – If you’d like to use white rum or unflavored vodka, but still want the caramel flavor, you can add a little caramel syrup or melt a caramel candy to the apple cider simple syrup when boiling to add the flavor back in.
Chill your cider first – Using cold apple cider helps the mojito stay crisp and refreshing without watering it down too quickly.
Use a light hand with mint – Muddle gently to release the oils; over-crushing can make the drink bitter.
Layer your garnishes – Fresh mint, thin apple slices, and lime wedges make the cocktail more eye-catching and aromatic.
Batch for a crowd – Mix rum, cider, lime juice, and syrup in a pitcher ahead of time; keep mint and soda on the side until serving.
Make it a mocktail – Skip the rum and use sparkling cider or ginger ale for a family-friendly version that still feels festive.

White rum is the classic choice for mojitos since it keeps the drink light and crisp, but spiced rum adds warmth and fall flavors that pair beautifully with apple cider.
Fresh mint is highly recommended for the authentic mojito flavor; dried mint won’t release the same vibrant aroma or taste.
