French Martini Cocktail Recipe – delicious vodka martini with Chambord for a delicious martini that tastes like cotton candy! If you’re looking for a sweet, fruity, and delicious cocktail for spring – we’re sharing our new favorite! We’re using Chambord, pineapple juice, and vodka to bring a fruity cocktail inspired by our favorite French liqueur – Chambord!

It’s a sweeter martini, but not in dessert-like way – there are notes of raspberry, pineapple, and citrus – it tastes like a cotton candy martini, without being overly syrupy sweet. It’s definitely a fruity cocktail but the flavor of this drink is really fascinating to me, it kind of tastes like cotton candy!

How to Make Refreshing French Martini

Chambord is a fruity dark raspberry liqueur perfect to bring a sweet taste to all sorts of drinks, thanks to it’s light and sweet flavor. It is a French liquor named after the small commune in the Loire Valley where it was first made. Chambord is a blended liqueur made from red and black raspberries, Madagascar vanilla, Moroccan citrus peel, honey and cognac.

French Martini Ingredients

  • Vodka (2 ounces) – Smooth vodka forms the crisp, clean base of a French martini, allowing the fruity flavors to shine without overpowering them.
  • Pineapple juice (1½ ounces) – Pineapple juice adds bright tropical sweetness and creates the signature light, frothy foam when shaken.
  • Chambord raspberry liqueur (½ ounce) – Chambord brings rich raspberry flavor and a hint of elegance, giving the cocktail its classic French martini character.
  • Ice – Ice chills the cocktail quickly while providing just enough dilution for a silky, well-balanced finish.
  • Lemon rind (garnish) – A twist of lemon rind adds a subtle citrus aroma that brightens each sip.
  • Raspberry (garnish) – A fresh raspberry adds a pop of color and reinforces the cocktail’s fruity notes with a beautiful finishing touch.

Tips and Tricks for Making Martinis

Use good-quality vodka. Since vodka is the base, a smooth, mid- to high-quality vodka makes a noticeable difference in the final drink.

Chill everything first. Cold vodka, chilled pineapple juice, and a frosty martini glass help keep the cocktail crisp and refreshing without needing excess ice.

Shake, don’t stir. Always shake a French martini to properly blend the fruit flavors and create that signature light foam on top.

Use ice generously. A full shaker of ice chills the drink quickly and gives you proper dilution for a silky finish.

Choose real pineapple juice. Fresh or not-from-concentrate pineapple juice delivers brighter flavor and better foam than shelf-stable juice.

Don’t overdo the Chambord. A little goes a long way—too much raspberry liqueur can overpower the drink and make it overly sweet.

Garnish simply. A fresh raspberry, lemon twist, or pineapple wedge adds elegance without distracting from the drink itself.

French Martini FAQs

Can I pre-mix this cocktail?

This martini is a great party drink, because you can mix up a giant batch of it, and store in an airtight jar or pitcher with a lid in the refrigerator.
When you’re ready for a cocktail, add 6 oz to a shaker with ice and shake vigorously.
Strain and pour, add garnish.

Why does my French martini have foam on top?

The foam comes from shaking pineapple juice with ice, which aerates the juice and gives the drink its light, creamy froth.

How strong is a French martini?

French martinis are moderately strong, typically around 15–20% alcohol by volume, depending on the vodka and ratios used.

Can I substitute Chambord?

You can substitute another raspberry liqueur or crème de cassis, but the flavor will change slightly from the classic version.

Can I make French martinis ahead of time?

You can mix the ingredients ahead and chill them, but shake with ice right before serving to create the foam.
