Loaded with nutrients, fiber, and antioxidants, Kale Chips are a healthy alternative to potato chips and other unhealthy snack options. They are easy to make and kids will love them too!

Healthy Kale Chips

Kale chips are a type of snack food that is made from kale, a leafy green vegetable. The kale is first washed and then cut into small pieces. Next, the kale is placed on a baking sheet and lightly coated with oil. Finally, the kale is baked in a preheated oven until it is crisp. Kale chips can be enjoyed as is or with a dip such as hummus or tahini.

Kale chips are a healthy alternative to traditional potato chips or tortilla chips. They are low in calories and fat, and they are a good source of fiber. Kale chips are also vegan and gluten-free.

How To Make Kale Chips

For this recipe, you will need only 4-ingredients. Here’s what you’ll need to get started:

  • Kale– Get a medium sized bunch of kale. Make sure you wash and dry it thoroughly.
  • Olive oil– You can use olive oil or if you want a healthier option, you can use avocado oil.
  • Sea salt– Sea salt is less processed than table salt and retains trace minerals which add more flavor.
  • Garlic powder– I use garlic powder for seasoning, but you could use any spices or seasonings you choose.

Once you’ve gathered your ingredients, the rest of the process is a breeze. Follow the steps below:

  1. First, preheat your oven to 300ºF. Then, wash and dry the bunch of kale.
  2. Tear the leaves off of the stems to form chip-sized pieces.
  3. Next, arrange the kale on an unlined baking sheet so that they are spread out.
  4. Drizzle the olive oil over the kale, evenly. Then, use your hands to massage the oil into the kale.
  5. Once the kale is well massaged, start sprinkling the sea salt and garlic powder on the kale.
  6. Finally, place the kale leaves into the oven and bake for 10-minutes.
  7. Then, rotate the pan, and flip any pieces that are looking too crispy. Bake for another 10-15 minutes.
  8. Let your kale chips cool on the baking sheet for 3-5 minutes.

Enjoy!

Tips and Tricks to Perfect Kale Chips and FAQs:

  • Use Fresh, dry kale leaves. Start with fresh, dry kale leaves. Make sure to dry the kale thoroughly or the chips will be soggy.
  • Remove the stems. Remove the tough stems from the leaves and tear the leaves into bite-sized pieces. If you leave the stems you’ll end up with unappetizing chips.
  • Don’t skip massaging oil on the kale leaves. Oil helps the kale crisp up in the oven to make them chips.
  • Don’t overlap the kale leaves. Make sure that they are not overlapping or touching so that they can get nice and crispy.
  • Check the kale. Check on the kale to make sure they do not brown the last 8ish minutes.

FAQs

What temperature do you bake kale chips?

In order to get the crispy chip texture, you have to bake kale low and slow. Do not try to speed up the process. Keep the oven at 300?

How long does this recipe take to make?

Kale chips are actually a really quick snack to make. It will only take about 5-minutes to prepare the recipe and 20-minutes to cook. You can have a delicious, healthy snack in 25-minutes.

Are kale chips healthy?

Kale chips are generally considered to be healthy, as they are low in calories and fat but high in vitamins and minerals. Kale is also a good source of fiber and antioxidants. However, some brands of kale chips may be high in sodium or contain other unhealthy ingredients, so it is important to read the label before purchasing.

How long do kale chips last?

Store in an airtight container in a cool, dark place. However, they may become stale or lose their flavor over time. If you find that your kale chips have lost their crunch, you can try reheating them in the oven for a few minutes.

Can I make kale chips without oil?

Yes, you can technically make kale chips without oil. However, they may not come out as crispy. If you want to make them without oil, leave them in the oven until they become crispy.

  1. These kale chips are delicious and so easy to make. Even if you can’t “bake” it’s very doable and consider the cost compared to what you’d pay at the grocery store, especially with today’s food prices @
