I hope you love these delicious slow cooker chicken wings as much as I do!
How to Cook Chicken Wings in the Slow Cooker
Cooking chicken wings in the slow cooker is incredibly easy - simply dump, mix, and cook!
Make sure you prep your slow cooker with a cooking spray (opt for an olive oil spray if you want these to be keto garlic parmesan chicken wings).
For the best results, stir chicken wings about once an hour while cooking to make sure the garlic butter flavor can sink in evenly - but this is optional.
Slow cooker chicken wings are soft, tender, and delicious - but if you miss a little bit of the crispy crunch from fried chicken wings, you can pop these wings on a baking sheet that has been covered with parchment paper and broil for 3-5 minutes per side until crispy.
How To Cut Chicken Wings
I often buy flats of chicken wings from my grocery store because they are much more affordable – and often more fresh!
I first shared this technique to cut chicken wings in my popular Crispy Baked Chicken Wings Recipe post - an oven baked chicken wing recipe you won't want to miss if you love crunchy classic chicken wing flavor.
Cutting your own chicken wings saves a ton of money, so I try to always trim my own chicken wings whenever I can. For this recipe, you can use the whole wing intact – but I find the texture is the best when I cut them.
Cutting chicken wings down to pieces makes them easier to eat, and also helps get a super crispy texture!
To cut chicken wings into thirds – flat, drumette, and tip of the wing – follow the instructions below:
-Using a sharp large chefs knife, feel for the joints between the 3 main parts to a chicken wing – the wing tip, the flats, and the drumette.
-Bend the joints backwards, using your hands, to get them to loosen.
-Use your knife to feel where the bones come together, and pressing down hard, cut through the joint. (You don’t want to try to cut the bone – but find the space in between the bones.)
-While you can cook wing tips, they often don't have much (if any) meat to them. Discard any that don’t look to offer you much meat.
Delicious Slow Cooker Wings
These slow cooker garlic parmesan butter chicken wings are out of this world delicious in part because of the rich, buttery parmesan and garlic sauce.
This sauce comes together as the wings cook away throughout the day, for a velvety smooth garlic butter sauce that will be the hit of your dinner table!
This sauce is so good, I could totally drink it.
I first made it in my baked lemon garlic parmesan wings recipe, and it's been on my mind ever since!
When I wanted to try out some garlic butter parmesan wings in the slow cooker, I just knew I needed to have this rich buttery parmesan chicken wing sauce again.
Garlic Parmesan Chicken Wing Sauce Recipe
- -½ cup Nandos Lemon Herb Peri Peri Sauce
- -½ teaspoon fresh grated lemon rind
- -4 tablespoon butter
- -½ teaspoon celtic sea salt
- -2 teaspoon garlic powder
- -1 oz lemon juice
- -¼ cup grated parmesan cheese
How To Thicken Wing Sauce
When this recipe has cooked in the slow cooker all day, the sauce at the end can look very thin and runny.
To thicken up your sauce if you'd like to drizzle more over your wings for serving, follow these steps:
-Add sauce into a small saucepot.
-Bring to a rolling boil.
-Add ¼ cup grated parmesan.
-Whisk vigorously to incorporate parmesan.
-Let thicken, about 3-4 minutes.
-Spoon over wings and serve!
