How To Make Halloween Punch
This punch is super simple – mix, stir, and serve – but there are a couple of steps and tips to making a perfect punch everyone will love!
- Ice: Keeps the punch cold and refreshing. If using gummy ice cubes, it also adds a fun, spooky element as the gummies slowly melt into the drink.
- 1 gallon Hawaiian Punch: The base of the punch, Hawaiian Punch provides a sweet and fruity flavor. Its bright red color contributes to the spooky, blood-like appearance of the punch.
- 2 liters lemon-lime soda (Sierra Mist, Sprite, or 7UP): Adds fizziness and a slightly tangy, citrusy flavor that balances the sweetness of the Hawaiian Punch. It also lightens the overall drink, making it more refreshing.
- 12 ounces pineapple juice: Adds a tropical twist with a sweet and tangy flavor that complements the other fruit juices. Pineapple juice also enhances the punchโs overall fruity complexity.
- 2 cups shredded coconut: Provides a unique texture and a hint of tropical flavor. The shredded coconut can also resemble cobwebs or other spooky elements when floating on top of the punch.
- 1 cup gummy worms: Adds a playful, Halloween-themed touch to the punch. The gummy worms not only enhance the visual appeal but also provide a chewy treat as they soak up some of the punchโs flavor.
- 12 Gummy ice cubes (optional): An optional spooky twist, these ice cubes contain gummy candies that gradually melt and release the gummies into the punch, adding both a fun surprise and a bit of extra flavor.
- Black icing (optional rim garnish): Used to rim the punchbowl, black icing adds an extra Halloween aesthetic. It can create a drippy, creepy effect on the bowl, enhancing the overall spooky presentation.
- Large Punchbowl: Holds all the ingredients together and provides a large, communal serving vessel. The punchbowl itself is essential for presentation, allowing everyone to serve themselves while admiring the spooky concoction.
Once you’ve gathered your ingredients, we will follow this method:
- Fill a large punch bowl about 1/2 full of ice.
- Pour in the Hawaiian punch, soda, and pineapple juice.
- Add the coconut and gummy worms and eyeball ice cubes if using and stir.
- Rim glasses with black icing if desired before ladling in the punch for serving.
Tips For Perfect Halloween Punch
It is best to mix this punch immediately before serving – mixing gummy ice, worms, and shredded coconut right before serving, as they will start to melt and dissolve after adding.
Be sure to add plenty of ice cubes to your punch before adding in your ingredients, so you don’t have to mix much – give a light stir after adding all of the juice – and then add in the coconut and candy!
When serving, be sure everyone gets a worm and an ice eye surprise!
There are a couple of modifications you can make to make this allergy friendly – including skipping the coconut and swapping pineapple for orange juice if you run into coconut or pineapple allergies.
You can add additional creepy crawly gummy candies – kids love the fun surprise! We recommend regular gummies, instead of sour candies that have a powder coating on the outside, as the sour coating can change the flavor of the fruit punch.
Halloween Punch FAQs
While you can pre-mix the pineapple juice and fruit punch, you will immediately start to lose carbonation from the lemon lime soda, and the coconut will start to dissolve – so we reccomend making this punch immediately before serving.
To save time, you can pre-rim glasses with icing, make the gummy ice cubes, and prep decorations in advance and quickly mix the punch at the last minute before serving!
Vodka and rum make great mix-ins – you can add individually to drinks to make a drink that is party friendly for kids and adults, or make a big batch that is just for adults if you want to get in on the spooky fun, too!
If you would like to swap out the pineapple juice in this recipe, you can use orange juice instead.
