How to make Everything Bagel Fat Bomb

First assemble the following ingredients:

  • Cream cheese (8 ounces) – Cream cheese serves as the rich, creamy base for these keto fat bombs, adding a smooth texture and slightly tangy flavor.
  • Fresh chives (2 tbsp) – Chives add a mild, onion-like taste with a hint of freshness to the mix, enhancing the overall flavor profile.
  • Dried dill (1?2 teaspoon) – Dried dill contributes an aromatic, slightly sweet, and citrusy note that pairs wonderfully with the creamy base.
  • Black pepper (1?4 teaspoon) – Pepper introduces a gentle heat and piquancy, cutting through the richness of the cream cheese.
  • Sea salt (1?4 teaspoon) – Salt is essential for balancing and intensifying the flavors of the other ingredients, making each bite more satisfying.
  • Everything bagel seasoning (1?2 cup) – Everything bagel seasoning tops off these fat bombs, adding a crunchy, flavorful kick with its blend of seeds, garlic, and onion.

Use this Method

Prep. Prepare a cutting board by covering with a slice of parchment paper. Set a side.

Combine Filling. In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to combine the cream cheese, fresh chives, dried dill, salt and pepper using medium low speed.

Chill. Use a small cookie scoop to scoop 1 inch round balls onto the prepared cutting board. Cover and place in the refrigerator for 25 minutes.

Roll. Roll each ball in the everything bagel seasoning and store in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

Tips and Tricks for Everything Bagel Fat Bombs

Keep them for later: Since fat bombs are meant to be prepared and saved for later, it is important to store them properly so you can have a filling snack anytime you need one. These fat bombs can be stored for up to a week when sealed in an airtight container in the fridge.

Use good seasoning: Your everything bagel blend matters, find my easy seasoning recipe here.

Ensure Cream Cheese is at Room Temperature: This makes it easier to blend smoothly with other ingredients, preventing lumps for a creamy texture.

Finely Chop Chives: Small, even pieces distribute the flavor more uniformly throughout the fat bombs.

Toast the Everything Bagel Seasoning: Briefly toasting the seasoning in a dry pan can enhance its flavors and add an extra crunch.

Use Freshly Ground Pepper: For a more robust flavor, opt for freshly ground black pepper over pre-ground versions.

Balance Salt Carefully: Since everything bagel seasoning already contains salt, adjust the additional salt amount accordingly to avoid overly salty fat bombs.

Chill Mixing Bowl and Utensils: This can help keep the mixture firm and easier to handle, especially in warmer environments.

Scoop with a Cookie Scoop: For uniform, neatly shaped fat bombs, use a small cookie scoop to portion out the mixture.

Refrigerate Before Rolling: Allowing the mixture to firm up in the refrigerator for about an hour makes it less sticky and easier to roll into balls.

Roll in Extra Seasoning: For an added flavor burst, roll the formed fat bombs in additional everything bagel seasoning.

Store Properly: Keep the fat bombs in an airtight container in the refrigerator to maintain their shape and freshness.

Freezing Option: For a longer shelf life, fat bombs can be frozen and then thawed for a few minutes at room temperature before serving.

Experiment with Mix-Ins: Feel free to add other keto-friendly ingredients like diced bacon or shredded cheese for variety.

Taste as You Go: Adjust the seasoning according to your preference, remembering that flavors will meld and intensify after chilling.

FAQs

Can I add salmon to this dish?

Some people like to mix in smoked salmon for a bagel and lox flavor – you can add 4 oz chopped smoked salmon and add to fat bombs for even more flavor.

How can I quickly soften cream cheese?

You can speed up the time it takes to soften cream cheese by chopping into smaller pieces as it warms.

Can I place fat bombs in freezer to set faster?

To speed up setting time, you can also put the balls into the freezer and they will set in half the time.

What is a Fat Bomb?

Fat bombs are savory or sweet, and contain cheese, oil, butter, or nut butter as a way to load up with fat when on a keto diet. They are similar to energy balls or energy bars – but don’t have the carbs you’d get from chocolate, honey, or dates.

Hard-Boiled Eggs: Sliced or halved, hard-boiled eggs make a protein-rich side that complements the fat bombs.

Assorted Nuts: A handful of almonds, walnuts, or pecans adds a satisfying crunch and healthy fats.

Keto Crackers: Look for low-carb, grain-free crackers for a crunchy base to spread the fat bombs on.

Pickled Vegetables: Tangy pickles or other pickled veggies like sauerkraut can add a zesty flavor contrast.

Leafy Greens: A simple side salad of arugula or spinach with a light vinaigrette pairs nicely with the creamy fat bombs.

Cheese Slices: Enjoy with thin slices of your favorite keto-friendly cheeses, such as cheddar or gouda, for an extra cheesy treat.

Radishes: Thinly sliced radishes provide a peppery bite and a pop of color.

Keto-friendly Dips: Serve alongside low-carb dips such as guacamole or a herbed sour cream dip for added flavor.
